ALLOY STEEL PRODUCERS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA
ABOUT ASPA:
The Alloy Steel Producers Association of India (ASPA) was founded in 1968 as an industry association under Section 25 of the Companies Act 1956 with the principal objective of promoting trade, commerce and manufacture connected with tool, alloy and special steel in the country.
ASPA ACTIVITIES:
ASPA core activities include:
Whay is Alloy Steel
a. Alloy Steel is steel containing elements like Chromium, Nickel, Molybdenum, vanadium used in highly specialized areas like Automotive, Engineering, etc.
b. Grades & Specifications
There are more than 1000 varieties of alloy steel.
Alloy Steels are produced conforming to international specifications such as:
Alloy Steels are used in the Automotive, Engineering, Defense, Railways and Textile sectors.
Some of the end uses of Alloy Steels are in making:
Alloy Steels are manufactured in the form of
The alloy steel products are manufactured in sizes ranging from 5mm to 400 mm width or diameter.
Shapes
Alloy Steel Products are made in the following shapes:
Alloy Steel Products maybe supplied in:
The process of making Alloy Steel is a highly specialized and complex process of manufacturing summarized step-wise below:
A variety of stringent destructive and non-destructive tests are carried out in highly sophisticated laboratory equipment for Mechanical & Metallurgical properties such as:
g. Comments
Each Alloy Steel grade is tailor-made as per customer’s specification and end application (it is not a commodity product)
Requirements of Alloy Steels are in small batches ranging from 500 kg to 40 metric tonne per grade. Due to the specialized nature of requirements, alloy steel manufacturers are not able to achieve economies of scale.
Steel plants in India have the State-of-the-Art manufacturing facilities and technical capabilities to produce alloy steels meeting stringent international quality norms specified by the automotive and other industries.
